Kristen Koritnik is the Director of the Michigan State University (MSU) Human Research Protection Program (HRPP).  In this role, Kristen oversees the HRPP, including the Institutional Review Board (IRB), IRB Reliance, and Compliance offices and works closely with MSU’s IRBs. She supports the HRPP’s mission of protecting individuals who are research participants and works to ensure that HRPP processes are in compliance with federal regulations, state and local laws, university policies and procedures, and ethical principles for human subject research protection. Kristen joined the MSU IRB office in 2001 and has performed various roles, including processing incoming applications to the IRBs, coordinating educational activities, and managing the MSU HRPP accreditation process with the Association for the Accreditation of Human Research Protection Programs, Inc. (AAHRPP). Kristen has been a member of Public Responsibility in Medicine and Research (PRIM&R) and has previously presented for PRIM&R and AAHRPP, as well as for local conferences, workshops, and meetings.  She, along with others at MSU, participate in regular conversations with colleagues across the Big10.

Kristen earned a BS in human biology and a BA in general business administration from MSU, and later a JD from the MSU College of Law
