Laura R. McCabe, Ph.D. is the Associate Vice President for Research Regulatory Support in the Office of Research and Innovation and is also an MSU Foundation Professor in Physiology. Dr. McCabe has held several key leadership roles at MSU, including Chair of the Faculty Senate and Chair of Faculty Promotion and Tenure, and has contributed her expertise to various university, federal, foundation, and research society advisory and review panels. Her active involvement in national science policy includes collaborations with organizations such as Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology (FASEB), the American Society of Bone and Mineral Research (ASBMR), the American Physiological Society (APS), and the Council of Government Relations (COGR). Drawing upon substantial experience in regulatory affairs and science policy, Dr. McCabe is committed to advancing research and innovation while reducing administrative barriers for faculty and administrators. She presently serves as Faculty Co-Chair of the Federal Demonstration Partnership (FDP) and as Vice President of the FDP Foundation.

Dr. McCabe obtained her Ph.D. from the University of Chicago and completed postdoctoral training at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center. Her research focuses on gut-bone signaling pathways as strategies for the prevention of osteoporosis. She has authored more than 115 scholarly articles, holds multiple patents, and has received funding from major agencies, including the NIH, NSF, NASA, and ADA. She has led numerous research teams and projects, and her contributions have been recognized through honors such as the MSU Foundation Professorship, Distinguished Service Award, Research Excellence Award, AAAS Fellowship, and the Academic Advancement Network Leadership Award. As Principal Investigator, Director of the Beckman Scholar Program, and Faculty Advisor to the Council of Graduate Students, Dr. McCabe has provided mentorship to over 100 undergraduate, graduate, postdoctoral, and early-career researchers.
