Krista Campeau is the Assistant Vice President for Research Security at Michigan State University. She is a graduate of the University of Michigan, an attorney, and member of the State Bar of Michigan with more than 15 years of experience leading teams in international trade compliance and research security.

Campeau is responsible for both the Office of Export Control and Trade Sanctions (ECTS) and the Research Security Program at MSU.  In these roles, she oversees campus-wide export compliance and research security, including sponsored research, procurement, visas and visitors to research labs, international travel, disclosure requirements, cybersecurity, and related export compliance and research security training. Campeau identifies compliance gaps across the university and implements new business processes and risk mitigation efforts. She is also responsible for the continued development and implementation of university-wide Export Compliance and Research Security Programs in alignment with evolving federal regulations and MSU’s Strategic Plan. 

Campeau actively participates in national associations such as the Federal Demonstration Partnership (FDP), Council on Governmental Relations (COGR), Big 10 Research Security, American Security and Counter Exploitation (ASCE), and the Association of University Export Control Officers (AUECO). She regularly presents and serves as a panelist at national meetings on topics involving export compliance, trade sanctions, and research security.
